DONE well, a pantomime has everybody in the audience entertained - young and old alike.
That’s exactly what we found when the News team went to see Bromley’s panto for 2016 - a swashbuckling production of Peter Pan starring Strictly judge Craig Revel Horwood as Captain Hook.
After a slow start, the show really gets going with the arrival of Revel Horwood, a man of many talents who both looked daper and hit all the right notes.
A highlight comes in the second half with a superb rendition of "You’re Just Too Good to be True" with Mimi the Magical Mermaid, played by the marvellous Rachel Spry.
Equally fantastic was Paul Burling as Mr Smee, who had the crowd laughing throughout with his spot-on impersonations.
There were a couple of duff tracks, but overall the music had everybody joining in and singing along.
The riskier jokes were lost on the kids (at least we hope they were), but the adults were laughing as much as the little ones.
Just before the end of the show, the kids were invited to throw “rocks” (foam squares distributed by the theatre staff) in the direction of the stage - an excellent element of audience participation enjoyed by all.
Ryan Heenan does a good job as Peter but, sharing a stage with the Strictly sensation, he found it difficult to shine.
The Churchill’s panto is the best we’ve seen so far this year - definitely worth more than a ‘SEVEN!’.
